Titanium dioxide (E171): EFSA (2021) could no longer consider it safe — genotoxicity could not be excluded and an ADI could not be established. Banned as a food additive in the EU from August 2022 (Reg (EU) 2022/63).

Concentrated added-sugar sweetener; regular intake associated with excess free-sugar consumption and elevated cardiovascular risk (WHO guideline on free sugars; AHA statements).

BHA: IARC Group 2B (possibly carcinogenic), endocrine disruptor (EFSA 2012)

BHT: possible liver lesions, alveolar histiocytosis in animals; IARC Group 3

Sodium benzoate: can form benzene in combination with ascorbates (vitamin C, E300/E301/E302/E304). IARC classifies sodium benzoate itself as Group 3 (not classifiable as to carcinogenicity).

Mono- and diglycerides: may contain trans fats as manufacturing byproduct; limited labeling requirement

Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC): gut microbiome disruption in animal studies (Chassaing et al. 2015)

Pyrophosphates: excess dietary phosphate linked to kidney stress and cardiovascular risk (EFSA 2019)

Citric acid: an acid found naturally in citrus fruits and formed in the body's own energy metabolism (the citric acid cycle); the additive is made by fermenting sugars with the mould Aspergillus niger. It adds sourness, regulates acidity and helps antioxidants work by binding metals. JECFA set no limit on its acceptable daily intake (ADI not limited), and the EU authorises it in most foods with no fixed maximum level (quantum satis).
