Potassium bromate: IARC Group 2B (possibly carcinogenic) — sufficient animal evidence, genotoxic via oxidative DNA damage (IARC Monographs Vol 73, 1999). JECFA established no ADI (bromate should not be present in food as consumed). Not permitted as a food additive in the EU and many other jurisdictions.
